Bauer Family Resources has been serving youth since 1929, working at “creating brighter tomorrows by strengthening children and families today.” During our many years of service to the community we have developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced today by many young people who live in our community. And, even more importantly, we have the privilege of working alongside youth to support them in overcoming the obstacles on their way to their own “brighter tomorrows.”

Celebrate Youth! was launched 5 years ago to shine a spotlight on those young people in our community who are overcoming obstacles so they can create their “brighter tomorrows.” As Bauer’s major fundraiser, it is important because it provides the funds needed to support the work done every day to encourage young people in difficult situations.

During the Celebrate Youth! banquet each April five young people in our community, who have been encouraged by a mentor, are recognized for their achievements in specific content areas. A sixth youth is honored as the Youth of the Year. Each of the winners receives a cash prize, sponsored by generous community donors.

Bauer’s youth services include a free, after school program that encourages academics, athletics and character development. Young people are engaged in STEM activities, tutoring, the arts and other activities that are facilitated by caring adults who provide positive role models. Summer programing offers the same opportunities for a full day and includes weekly field trips. Dinner is served each night at the Community Center to youth at no charge. Free family dinners are provided on Thursday nights in partnership with Evangelical Covenant Church. Bauer, Tippecanoe County’s Accredited Youth Service Bureau, also conducts School Court at Sunnyside Intermediate School and Teen Court.

None of the work done at Bauer is possible without the generous support of the individuals, companies and grant makers who give us their dollars because they trust us to make a difference. Thank you for joining us in this important work. We hope you will join us for the celebration!
